Born in Hokitika, I first started tramping in 1967 with the Papanui High School tramping club in Christchurch. I have continued tramping over the years more or less. In recent years I have become a more active tramper (less time working and sailing) and I tramp solo, or with family or friends, or with NSTC or ATC.

Now I live in Auckland, which is unfortunate -- not because I am a JAFA, but because there is not much decent tramping within easy reach of Auckland. My ambition is to reside in the South Island, maybe Nelson.
