NZ tramps
April 2009 : Routeburn-Greenstone (5-day) and Rees-Dart (5-day).
It hosed down along the Hollyford face but perfectly calm, deep blue sky on Cascade Saddle - just fabulous.
April 2011 : Travers-Sabine (8-day) and Mt Arthur-LeslieR-WilkinsonTk-BatonR (5-day).
Snow at the Angelus, blood and sweat at Baton Saddle - great tramping.
February 2013 : St Arnaud-Lewis Pass (9-day) and 5 Passes via Lake Nerine (8-day)
It’s not often the SI has 20+ days of outstanding weather but that’s what was served up for these two fantastic tramps. The first was more challenging and both encompassed wonderful landscapes – high alpine passes and tarns, scree-covered slopes, cold clear rivers in forested valleys. Side trip to Park Pass Glacier and Sunset Peak were highlights.
